I don’t really understand how proxies work. I only roughly imagine that traffic goes through some other server and somehow everything works without blocks or access restrictions. That’s it. I just want to figure it out, without going into details.

Maybe they don’t see the need for it, and they’re fine with their clients as is? Honestly, I have no idea. I’d go to the designer who shows me the whole project down to the tiniest details.
