How do edible cannabis products generally differ from inhaled forms in terms of onset time and duration of effects?

Recommended Posts

Last weekend I tried an edible after years of only smoking. I expected it to hit fast, but nothing happened for almost an hour. I even thought it wasn’t working, then suddenly it felt stronger and lasted way longer than I’m used to. Is that normal with edibles compared to inhaling, or did I just misjudge the timing?

From what I’ve noticed, inhaled options feel more predictable because you know pretty quickly how you’ll feel. Edibles seem less immediate, which can confuse people at first. Some like that longer, steadier feeling, others don’t. It really depends on the setting, mood, and how much time someone has available.

When you inhale, the effect shows up fast and fades quicker, but edibles usually take longer because your body processes them through digestion. I once had a gummy before a movie, felt nothing during the previews, and then halfway through it really kicked in and stayed with me most of the evening. Duration was the biggest surprise for me. I found this page helpful when I was trying to understand timing and dosage better: https://joyorganics.com/products/10-mg-delta-9-thc-gummies-value-pack. Not pushing anything, just sharing info. For me, patience made all the difference, and now I plan my time way more carefully. Everyone reacts differently, but slower onset and longer effects seem common from what friends have told me.
